One of the rooms in our new house that I am currently designing is our home office! We already made some of the selections for the room, including dark hardwood floors, a fun modern light fixture, and a full wall of built-ins that includes bookshelves, cabinets, and a desk area.
As I got started planning out the room, there were a few unique considerations that I factored in when designing the space:
- The office is located on the first floor and has glass French doors that open directly into the main foyer area, so it’s very visible (aka I want it to look nice 🙂 ).
- The room will be multi-purpose – a place to store files/printer/office supplies/etc., a work from home space, AND a work out area as we decided our Peloton bike will go here.
- I tend to have more of a classic, feminine style, but I decided that I want to go a little more modern and masculine here, especially since my husband will be frequently working out of this space.
I’m excited to share a sneak peek of my current design board! Imagine the cabinet sketches coming to life in white painted wood. 🙂
Can we talk about how stunning the side chair is? It’s a bit of a splurge but I think it completely makes the space! I love the texture from the cane and how modern yet comfy it looks.
This design is still a work-in-progress, but I am really happy with how it’s coming together so far. I think it captures that modern, somewhat masculine feel I am going for and incorporates the multiple uses we have in mind for the room. I’d love to hear what you think and any ideas in the comments below!
