Welcome to The Tailored Texan

I’m so excited to introduce my newest creative project – my very first blog!

I have had the idea for this blog in the way back corner of my head for awhile. As long as I can remember, I’ve loved aesthetics. When I was a kid, like lots of little girls, I remember playing dress-up. I had a whole section of dress-up clothes (many of which my mom lovingly made for me) in my closet, and when my friends would come over, we’d force my parents to sit in the living room and watch us parade around in our “fashion shows.” I have very patient parents. 🙂

As I grew up, this translated into a love of all things design – picking out the perfect outfit for a dinner out with friends, stalking retailers’ websites to find the perfect accessory for my home, or in the millennial era – discovering and getting inspiration from a bunch of amazingly creative bloggers. I am also an analyst by nature – so that whole research and discovery process is that much more fun for me! My style tends to skew classic and southern, but with a fresh twist. There’s nothing I love more than mixing old and new – like the look of an antique mahogany chest below a modern piece of artwork or a classic tailored shift dress with a pair of fun statement earrings.

This summer, my husband and I decided to take the plunge and sign a contract to build our very first new construction home (more to come on this in a later post) near where we live in Dallas, Texas. I think this event – coupled with spending the fact that I’m spending a lot more of my free time at home during quarantine – prompted me to finally pull the trigger and voila! The Tailored Texan is born.

I believe your environment directly affects your overall mindset. We’re all spending a lot more time at home these days, and I hope this blog brings you some fun ideas and inspo to help make your house feel like your haven. Thank you so much for being here and happy reading!
